About Us

Powering the Battery-Free Generation

TEPOWER is a research-driven innovation project developing flexible thermoelectric generators that transform body heat into electrical power for self-powered microelectronics and sensors.

Our mission is to eliminate the need for batteries in wearable and low-power electronic devices by enabling continuous, maintenance-free energy harvesting directly from the human body. By using the natural temperature difference between the body and the surrounding environment, TEPOWER solutions provide a sustainable and reliable power source for next-generation electronics.

What We Do

TEPOWER focuses on the development of patch-like, flexible power modules designed to operate comfortably on the human body. These modules are intended to power devices such as:

  • wearable health sensors (e.g. PPG sensors),
  • environmental monitoring sensors,
  • autonomous microelectronics and IoT systems.

The project advances laboratory-proven technology toward real-world demonstrators, bridging the gap between scientific research and practical applications.

Why It Matters

Modern wearables rely heavily on batteries, which:

  • require frequent recharging or replacement,
  • increase device maintenance costs,
  • contribute to electronic waste,
  • depend on critical raw materials.

TEPOWER offers a battery-free alternative, helping to reduce waste, lower long-term costs, and enable electronics that work continuously, day and night, without user intervention.

Our Team

TEPOWER brings together an interdisciplinary team with expertise in:

  • advanced materials and nanotechnology,
  • thermoelectric energy harvesting,
  • electronics and system integration,
  • business development and innovation strategy.

The project is led by experienced researchers and supported by engineers and business developers with strong backgrounds in transforming scientific results into real-world solutions.

Project Status

TEPOWER is currently developing TRL 5 prototype demonstrators of flexible thermoelectric generators capable of powering ultra-low-power sensors using body heat. The project also focuses on know-how protection, validation in real-use conditions, and preparation for further technology scale-up.

Our Vision

We believe the future of electronics is self-powered.

TEPOWER aims to enable devices that are:

  • always on,
  • comfortable to wear,
  • environmentally responsible,
  • free from batteries.
